I'm excited to present my "Alien" figurine series, a unique collection where each character embodies an extraterrestrial with a distinct personality. Inspired by pop culture and a nod to Spielberg's "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," this collection also symbolizes the sense of disconnect many feel in a modern world where insecurity grows and the future seems uncertain. My little Alien, though nostalgic for the 80s, remains hopeful, adapting with curiosity and depth.
Alien with Balloon: This Alien, holding a heart-shaped balloon inspired by Banksy's "Girl with Balloon," embodies a gentle, childlike innocence, reminding us of the importance of preserving our sense of wonder in the simple things.
Alien Fanatic (White and Blue): Wearing a bob hat and socks with sandals, this "Alien Fanatic" pays tribute to the fans of OM—here renamed "Olympus Martians." A fan of the rapper "JUL" and Marseille, he also reflects my passion for OM, with whom I shared intense moments in the South Stand of the Vélodrome between 1988 and 1992. This nod to a glorious era for the club captures my strong, lasting affection for Marseille.
Alien with the Time Machine: This Alien has a time machine! He symbolizes the dream of exploring the past or changing history at will. Inspired by "E.T.," where the extraterrestrial builds a device with the "Speak & Spell" to contact his kind, my version sends messages like "back to 80’s" for nostalgia, "love," "peace," and "I want to believe" (a nod to X-Files) for hope, and "why" to question humanity's darker side.
The Hitchhiking Alien: With his backpack and a "Cape Canaveral" sign, this Alien symbolizes freedom and adventure, mixed with a frustration toward humanity. His "Home" sign shows his desire to return to his planet, hoping to catch a ride from Cape Canaveral.
Alien Mc Fries: Popping out of a box of fries, this Alien satirizes the omnipresence of fast-food chains and the influence of multinationals. This figure reminds us how hard it is to escape these brands that shape our everyday life.
The Alien in Vietnam: With a traditional Vietnamese conical hat, this Alien is inspired by my own trip to Vietnam. He represents the desire to explore other cultures and open up to new horizons.
Alien Theory: With black sunglasses and a raised middle finger, this Alien expresses his exasperation toward the absurd theories created about him. It’s a direct response to humanity's wild interpretations.
The Botanist Alien: Holding a pot of flowers, this character is a reminder of the importance of nature and our connection to the environment. Another nod to E.T., who was a botanist, this Alien emphasizes that a love for nature transcends worlds.
Each figurine in this collection was designed to capture an aspect of our society. Whether you're a collector or an art enthusiast, I hope these characters will bring you both smiles and reflection.
